COVID-19 Response: Home Health Guidance

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently issued home health guidance related to the infection control and prevention of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. This guidance is meant to reinforce recommendations set forth by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), with specific considerations of when it is safe to treat patients at home and when patients should be considered for hospitalization.

The full guidance includes answers to questions frequently asked by home health providers regarding risk, screening, hospitalization versus at-home treatment, and infection prevention and control practices. It also includes protocols for coordination and investigation of home health agencies with actual or suspected COVID-19 cases and links to important CDC resources.
