Susan Caponi, CEO of IPRO’s End-Stage Renal Disease Network Program, is a registered nurse and healthcare program executive with more than 35 years’ experience. She has dedicated the last fourteen years of her career to ensuring that people with end stage renal disease receive appropriate, timely and equitable care. Ms. Caponi provides leadership and executive oversight for the four IPRO ESRD Networks that comprise the IPRO ESRD Network Program. She has fiscal responsibility for a $25 million budget, and has been instrumental in the exponential growth of IPRO’s ESRD Program since its inception in 2006.
The IPRO ESRD Network Program provides expertise in quality improvement, data management, grievance investigation, technical assistance, emergency management and patient and professional education services to more than 1,900 dialysis providers and over 130,000 dialysis patients in the states of New York, Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. The IPRO ESRD Network Program is an integral partner in emergency preparedness and response–supporting dialysis facilities and assisting patients during the pandemic and any natural disasters.

Prior to her current position Ms. Caponi directed the emergency and critical care services of a 400-bed Long Island hospital. Ms. Caponi holds a bachelor of science degree in nursing and a master’s degree in business administration; she is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
